About the Business 

DIT Technologies is a rapidly expanding Ag Tech company that is bringing technology to the livestock industry to assist graziers increase their profitability.  

DIT manufacture and sell patented IoT devices which provide water supplementation to livestock as well as remote monitoring solutions to make life on the land easier and more connected for graziers and producers. In addition to this, we manufacture the supplements which get dosed using our technology.  

We place a heavy focus on R&D and are constantly reassessing the needs of the producers at the business end of the supply chain and how our IoT devices can assist in streamlining the ‘on farm’ processes and making them more profitable for the user. At DIT, we pride ourselves on our strong connection to the outback and one of our core principals is to put ‘boots on the ground’ and to grow strong personal face to face relationships with our clients.  

About the Role 

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team.
In this role you will be overseeing the software development of several AgTech products including the award winning uSEE remote monitoring suite and the uDOSE supplementation and fertilisation system.   

You will be leading in a small team where teamwork and collaboration is key. The mentality of “rolling your sleeves up” and assisting with tasks that could be out of your scope is expected and provides you with an opportunity to grow and expand your knowledge. 

This role will report directly to the CTO of DIT. 

Responsibilities 

  • Take responsibility for the software development of DIT’s technology products including the uSEE website, app and supporting architecture and several embedded software projects 

  • Manage and be part of a team of fellow developers  

  • Design, plan, implement and test new systems and features 

  • Responsibility for ensuring system uptime and reliability 

  • Deployment and operating of production systems 

  • Development automated test systems 

  • Own the development process end-to-end 

  • Work with engineers and product managers to develop requirements 

  • Give input regarding scoping and estimation of work 

  • Utilise Github for feature branching and completing code reviews 

  • Provide mentorship and guidance for Junior developers 

 

Skills and Experience 

  • The courage and professional maturity to have principled, evidence-based discussion of multiple approaches to a single challenge. 

  • Creative and collaborative 

  • Strong data and application security knowledge and skills 

  • Experience working with AWS cloud architecture, VPC networking, Elastic Beanstalk and various other applications 

  • Experience using with PHP, HTML and JavaScript.   

  • Linux server administration experience.  

  • Knowledge of the CakePHP framework and Xamarin is preferred 

  • Working knowledge of code versioning and git with GitHub  

  • Understanding and application of best practices and standard 

  • Ability to manage multiple staff and several different projects simultaneously 

  • Good knowledge of automated testing best practices 

  • Knowledge of Agile practice 

  • A product mindset, in which engineering costs are measured against the benefits to our stakeholders.
